Short Description:

The Çesme peninsula, lapped by the waters of the Aegean Sea, lies west of Izmir. It is one of Turkey's most beautiful coasts surrounded by clear seas with a wonderful climate and landscapes of cultivated fields. Long sandy beaches of "Pirlanta", "Altinkum", "Alacati" and "Ilica" are very attractive for tourists. In the unspoilt bays you can swim in absolute peace. A 14th century Genoese fortress, restored and enlarged by the Ottomans in the 16th century, dominates the port of Çesme. The town is 80 km from Izmir, in driving distance from most of the historica l sites of the Aegean coast. Every July, Çesme hosts international yacht and windsurf races owing to its perfect winds for sailing and surfing. In summertime, with its nearby villages, Çesme is suitable for every type of holiday planning from ca lm and peaceful style to more action with its nightlife.
