Short Description:
"more than a hotel" is its slogan, which appears on all the menus and signage and more than a hotel it is. It is - one the headquarters of the world's media - as we checked in Peter Jennings did a casual stroll through the lobby. CBS have their room and office on the same floor as us and journalists are the main population it seems. It is quite a schmooze fest for the war correspondents crowd. The rooms are utterly groovy with a 70's cruise, après ski chalet feel to them. Mirrors and wood paneling, our television controls are set into the paneling of the wooden bed side table, very high concept except all the buttons have fallen off and you can't adjust the volume. The TV gets vh1 but it only seems to play videos from the 70's and 80's the first night I saw Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "Two Tribes" video which I can't even begin to analyze in terms of irony. |
